In Thailand Turmeric powder or fresh Turmeric rhizome is used to make yellow-colored curry paste, for use in certain curry dishes such as our Curried Pumpkin with pork meatballs. It imparts a rich, custard-like yellow color to foods, and has a distinctly earthy, slightly bitter, slightly hot peppery flavor and a mustardy smell.
